Prerequisites
The course is open for students, who intend to defend their bachelor thesis in the following semester (usually in the 5th semester of the Baltic studies).

Course objectives
The goal of the diploma seminar is to assist the student in completing the diploma thesis and prepare for its successful defence. The diploma thesis addresses a scholarly issue at a level, appropriate to the degree being pursued. In the diploma thesis the student must demonstrate the ability to work independently in keeping with academic standards, a knowledge and understanding of the relevant scholarly literature and the ability to analyze the issue under study.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course student will have his / her bachelor thesis advanced to the high degree of completion, so that the thesis could be defended in the semester following the completion of this course.
Syllabus
  • Students are obliged to attend the seminar and present the topic of their work and their progress so far, as well as participate in discussions on work of other students. If a student is unable to attend classes in a given semester, e.g. due to a study abroad, he/she will discuss the procedure and requirements individually with the supervisor. After agreement with the supervisor and the seminar teachers, credit may be awarded on the basis of individual consultations with the supervisor.
