Course objectives
dr. Fišer: In this seminar students will analyse literary texts and interpret the discovered features in context of other works of the author and in the context of literary history. The work in the seminar will be enriched by the experience gathered during students own writing and practising text exercises during the course.
Mgr. Schelleová: As it is not possible during one course to deal with the whole period of the second half of the 20th century, students are advised to focus on a particular era or problematics (postwar literature, the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, the literature of exile, problematics of politically conformist literature, 1990s) or on a work by a particular author or group of authors, the literature of today - its outstanding personalities, works, magazines and publishing houses. Mgr. Balaštíks seminars will be aimed at interpretations of principal fictional works of the second half of the 20th century, including their position in literary context and literary criticism of that period. The seminar of Mgr. Svanovská will focus on specific texts, authors or currentes in the Czech literature of the 2nd half of the 20th century that have contributed in a significant way to the metamorphosis of its poetics.
The course of Mgr. Portl: The attention will be devoted to a Czech literature in 1950s and 1960s, to a historic context and a cultural politics.
