Course objectives
The course is the introduction to modern Chomskyan Principles and Parameters/Minimalist framework. Students will get some brief information about its basic philosophical background and they will discuss in more detail its main methodological principles. Then they will study the basic phrase structure, some senetence patterns and examples of most common transformations. The theory will be illustrated on Czech and English examples. Students who pass this course are invited to attend the course of Transformation Generative Grammar II in the summer semester which will devolop their knowledge of the modern generative framework.
Syllabus

Hodnocení kurzu: Pro získání kreditů na závěr kurzu studenti na základě studia odborného textu samostatně vypracují strukturní popis několika českých frází/vět.

Information on completion of the course: Vzhledem k tomu, že kurz se bude konat jen jednou za 14 dní (sudé týdny), bude důraz kladen na samostatnou četbu studentů.
