Course objectives

The lecture contents from two parts: I.specific conditions and tendencies of development, characteristics of a young adult reader, II. historical development of the genre since 19th century.
At the end of the course student should be able to:
understand and explain the development of Czech children’s books;
explain the basic terminology;
interpret the particularities of literature for children and young people;
interpret the particularities of a young reader.

Syllabus

• 1. Literature of the genre.
• 2. Intentional and unintentional part of the genre.
• 3.-4. Detailed age- devision of a reader.
• 5.-13. Development of the genre since 18th century
