General survey of the history of Czech literature from the beginning to the 18th century. Passive knowledge of German (grammar school level).

Course objectives
The aim of the seminar is the formal and content analysis of the 14th century Czech knightly epic, written in Czech. After putting this genre into historical and literary context, we will try to critically evaluate the artistic level of theses works and compare them to some of its European counterparts, mainly of German language origin.
