Course objectives
The course will treat Czech interpretations of main literary works of Central European modernism. Students will be also introduce to various concepts of literary modernism.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand main works of Central European modernism;
to learn the history of Czech interpretations of this works;
to work with concept of literary modernism independently;
to interpret works of literary modernism.

  • 4. Luigi Pirandello, One, No one and One Hundred Thousand.
  • 5. Bruno Schulz, The Street of Crocodiles.
  • 6. Elias Canetti, Auto-da-Fé.
  • 7. Sándor Márai, Egy polgár vallomásaiból (Confession of a Bourgeois).
  • 8. – 9. Robert Musil, The Man Without Qualities.
