Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of the significant currents of thought, personalities and works in the history of each national literature (Greek, Roman, English and American, German, Scandinavian, French, Spanish, Russian and Polish), selectively from the beginnings of education to the end of the 19th century. On the basis of the knowledge gained, it will be easier to understand the importance of world literature for the formation of Czech literature in the Central European cultural space.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able:
- to describe key works of world literature;
- to advocate the position of the works chosen in literary canon of secondary school students;
- to interpret text form the works given;
- to understand the relationship of world and Czech literature.
