Course objectives

By the end of the course, students will acquire practical communication and academic skills, which comprise a large part of this subject;
students will be capable of preparing and giving a presentation on a topic that directly relates to studying abroad in a multi-cultural environment. ;
students will broaden their horizon from the prespective of different countries nad cultures ;
students will practise all language skills(speaking, reading, listening and writing) and expand their vocabulary.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of the course, the student is able to do the following at a level of at least B1+ (CEFR): 1. Apply the presentation criteria (presented in the course) for the preparation and delivery of a presentation related to study abroad topics and/or cultural differences. 2. Demonstrate the skill of responding appropriately to discussion questions posed after a presentation; speak spontaneously and comprehensibly in the context of the class (e.g. discussions, expressing one's own ideas, paraphrasing and summarizing others' ideas, including those that are in person, recordings and texts). 3. Practise filling in application forms for study abroad. 4. Apply the principles of writing a motivation letter presented in the course and write a motivation letter for study abroad and a formal e-mail in the university context. 5. Compare, contrast and evaluate different cultures. 6. Manage practical topics (e.g. travelling, accommodation, banking and medical aid). 7. Demonstrate understanding of spoken language in the context of discussions, presentations, and recordings. 8. Interpret and summarize English texts from online newspapers.

Class exercices - seminar Reguirements for the course completion: - 70 % seminar attendance - short oral presentation (6-8 minutes)on topics relevant to studying/working abroad and different cultures - short written assignment (e.g.formal email,short summary,etc.) - home preparation before class is expected
