Course objectives
The seminar is dealing with independent writing of theatre reviews. There always are two reviews, first one of predetermined and collectively seen performance and the second one of performance of one's own choosing. Seminar is also aiming to critical reading of texts, which should lead to editorial comments.

Profiled seminar intended for second year students.
The seminar is held in Czech.
Learning outcomes

At the end of the seminar student will be able to:
- explain basic approaches towards theatre reviewing;
- think analytically and critically about performances of different genres;
- explain and argue his/her opinion about performance;
- create quality critical review.

  • Introduction to theory of theatre reviewing: theoretical texts
  • Introduction to practise: work of theatre critic and different kinds of reviews
  • Introduction to editing
  • Editing of students' reviews (based on collective viist of performance)
  • Mutual reflecting of students' reviews

Assessment methods
Submitting tasks, attendence. Oral exam - debate about required reading, one's own review and edit of anither review. Pass-fail line is 70%.
