After successful completion of this course student will be acquainted with terminology and problematics of this topic.

  • List of topics: 1. Sexuality in ancient literature 2. Development of the institution of marriage 3. The image of ideal beauty in   antiquity, kalokagathia 4. Mysteries and orgasmic cults, fertility deities 5. Comparison of sexuality of heroes and deities in ancient pantheons 6. Perception and displaying nudity in art as a model for the morale of ancient humans 7. Sexually motivated criminal offenses and their rules in Ancient Codes 8. Prostitution, whorehouses 9. Liaisons and infidelity in the high circles of the Ancient World 10. Understanding homosexuality, bisexuality and sexual deviations 11. Feminism, chauvinism and gender discrimination in the world of the ancient Greeks and Romans
