Course objectives
The course will focus on the study of individual burial customs of ancient cultures. The aim is to introduce students with how these nations is treated with their deaths, as awe they proved their identity and how they looked tombs and funerary complexes with their posthumous equipment. At the end of the course students will have basic knowledge about cultural rituals associated with the worship and burying the dead, tombs and funerary various civilizations and will be able to distinguish between them. The course will not focus only on the "rich" (eg. Pharao) funerals, but also to "the poor" (necropolis and burial place of the common people).

  • Topics: 1) The funeral rites of the Middle East and its transformations and traditions 2) Burial in Ancient Greece and influences to which he is, funerary art and architecture 3) Roman burial rite - Rome vs. provinces, skeletal vs. cremation rites, burial equipment, biritual necropolis, funerary art and architecture 4) Etruscan burial traditions, necropolis and tombs findings 5) The funeral rite in barbaricum in antiquity - changes and influences, elite burials, archaeological findings Mediterranean provenance barbarian graves ...
