Course objectives
Supervision and consulting about the progress of the doctoral thesis, supervision of the methodology used in particular chapters.
Supervision and consulting about the progress of the doctoral thesis, supervision of the methodology used in particular chapters.
The course is taken during the final four semesters of the standard period of study in the form of individual consulting with the supervisor and group seminars with the participation of PhD students in Ancient History. The meetings take place as frequently as needed but minimally once each semester. The seminars have the form of bloc teaching; they are obligatory for full-time students only.
Learning outcomes
The student will be capable of publishing first outcomes related to the preparation of the text of his/her dissertation.
Full-time students will get acquainted with the latest trends in reasearch and teaching of Ancient History, they will be capable of presenting the results of their current research to a well-informed audience and discussing them.
Syllabus
  • Supervision and consulting about the progress of the doctoral thesis, supervision of the methodology used in particular chapters.
  • Students' public presentations of topics from their dissertations or news from the field of Ancient History.
Literature
  • Literatura je předepsána individuálně podle tématu práce.
  • Literature is assigned on an individual basis based on the topic of the thesis.

Assessment methods
Credits are granted for submission of minimally 30 pages of the doctoral thesis in a coherent form (chapter, subchapter, incl. bibliography) at the end of the semester.
Full-time students are further required to present:
- a part of their dissertation within at least two runs of the Writing seminar
- the news in the research of Ancient History within at least two other runs of the Writing seminar.
