Course objectives
The course is an introduction into the study of history and theory of photography. Although it focuses on major names, dates movements and tendencies, a special attention is paid to major theoretical concepts and interpretative shifts of the period.

Professional photography 6. Photography outside the narrow European context 7. Photography, museum and history of art 8. Photographs as a form of social representation 9. Artistic ambitions of photographers 10. Amateur photography around 1900
