Course objectives
Caput Mundi is one of the many epithets of Rome, which emphasize the vital role within the European but also world civilization. This seminar will therefore seek to bring significant steps that have accompanied the birth and growth of christian art and Roman art, therefore, the European Middle Ages. Paradoxically, however, Roman cultural identity is also formed within a negation of the outside world, being eternally "busy" artistic reflection of themselves. Throughout the Middle Ages will therefore be studied in detail the work that clearly reflect this dual ambition of the Roman art of propaganda: versatility, combined with the presence of St. Peter and autoreflection See. Therefore Sigmund Freud compare the Eternal City to the human brain. The aim of this workshop is therefore to practice students' ability to focus in detail, in the Roman reality, one object of study, starting from a complex work with literature. At the same time for the practice of oral expression and the first steps in the production of autonomous scientific texts.
