Course objectives
The course introduces selected specific approaches to the study of early modern wall paintings and provides overview of the field of “concettismo”.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the terms concetto and concettismo in the European art of the 17th and 18th century.
Syllabus
  • 1. The terms "concetto" and "concettismo" in the art of 17th and 18th century.
  • 2. The concepts ("concetta") and their creators (Carl Gustav Haereus, Conrad Adolph von Albrecht and other).
  • 3. The concepts ("concetta") and their creators at the Moravia (Martin Antonín Lublinský, Dionýsius Strauss).
  • 4. Creation of the concepts ("concetta"): emblematic and baroque iconology.
  • 5. The survived concepts ("concetta") and their analyse.
