Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the beginning of postmodern culture in Czech art. Students will be prepared for understanding of contemporary art.
Syllabus
  • 1. Situation of Czech art in the 60s and 70s.; 2. Oficial and alternative culture.; 3. Specific position of postmodernism in Czech art after 1968.; 4.Preceding and new generation of artists.; 5. Postmodern art and Czech art.; 6. Influence of European art: German "Neue Wilde" and Italien "Transavanguardia".;7. Forms of the new painting and sculpture, exhibitions "Confrontations".; 8. The Group Tvrdohlaví and his circle.; 9. The 80s and after.
