- Students will know at the beggining of the course prescribed dramas and secondary readings. Course is intentended for MA studetns level.

- Course objectives
- Students will be able to analyse phenomenon of maddnes in drama from differenct perspectives: as thema and motive; as dramaturgical problem; in wider antropological and philosophical context.
- Syllabus
- Course will be divided into three working areas:
- - madness as theme and motive in drama
- We will discuss following plays:
- Aischylos: Oresteia
- Euripides: Orestes, Herakles, Bakchae
- Shakespeare: Hamlet, Lear
- Büchner: Vojcek
- Williams: Streetcar named Desire
- Kane: Psychosis 4.48
- - madness as antropological and philosophical issue
- Than we will discusee following texts:
- Nietzche: Birth of tragedy
- Foucault: Madness and Civilisation
- Artaud: všechny dostupné texty v češtině
- Deleuze: Thousands Plateaus (chosen parts)
- - madness in performance
- Knowlegde will be then applied to chosen performances (list will be added at the begining of the course).
