Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to interpret various forms of replicas of well known artefacts, they shoud be able to understand and to identify pretects (or prototexts) used (i.e. not only pretects from the treasury of ancient art but from the following period of art as well,see e.g. Shakespeare´s or Tschechov´s works).

  • Teorie of intertextuality (Barthes, Kristeva, Bloom, Genet, Glowinski,Markiewicz, Otruba), basic terms Main prototyps (Updike, Nadolny) • Pretexts hidden (Dürrenmatt, Kundera, Daněk) • New media (Max Frisch´s and Volker Schöndorff´s Homo Faber) • Trojan war in literature, drama and cinema (from Homer to Trojan chronicles, Troilus and Cressida, recent films about Trojan war, Xena)

Lectures combined with class discussions, students presents their papers.
Assessment methods
1-2 papers during the semestr, knowledge of the theory of intertextuality, written textual analysis of a case study (individual choice).
