Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able to define evolution of Czech theatre criticism focused on the acting and differentiate conceptions and possibilities of acting – in the wide range from stylized acting to the realistic one. Students will analyze different principles of acting, attitudes to drama character and means of expression on the examples of theatre reviews and video-records. The aim of the course is to get knowledge of the personalities of Czech theatre criticism orientated to the acting and an ability of a student to reflect different forms of acting styles.

Teaching methods
Theoretical approach to the analysis of acting expression, class discussion.
Assessment methods
Weekly seminars, individual assignment. The assessment is based on the contribution to a joint research project, and writing the final essay is expected (9.000 – 15.000 characters).
