Course objectives
The aim of the course is to shed light on the process of cultural borrowing from the Greek comic tradition to the Roman genre of palliate to the classic comedy of Moliere. The process will be illustrated on the example of three plays which will be close-read and discussed in the classes, i. e. Menander´s Dysokolos, Plautus´ Menaechmi and Shakespeare´s Comedy of Errors.
