Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain different types of psychological interpretations of meaning production process; to interpret the artefact from the point of view of the meaning production process (as a "product of mind" or "product for mind").
Syllabus
  • 1)The meaning creation processes: What is interpretation? What do we do while we are interpreting?
  • 2)The forms of meaning creation: symbol, metaphor, metonymy, story, myth, genre, style, dialog, dramatic play
  • 3)Resources of meaning and the approaches that help us to understand them (archetypes, masked desires, cognitive schemas, social stereotypes, mythology, ideology – and approaches: psychology of archetypes, psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology, social constructivism, mythological criticism, ideological criticism
  • 4)Subjects of the meaning production process: dreams, biographical accounts, tales, jokes, images, advertising, video-clips, PC-games, political discussions, film, theatre etc.
