Course objectives
Karel Čapek as an avant-gardist. To what extent in Čapek's case is an artistic transformation of various thought –isms beneficial to a literary work, what kind of difficulties does such an approach raise? The relevance of the home milieu in Čapek's work: the phenomenon of „a modest man“, the philosophy of modest and small in general. Method: the analysis of particular works by Čapek with the use of his own theoretical texts and relevant secondary literature as well.
