Course objectives
The course aims at mastering the terminology in folk clothes, recognising clothing and regional types, acquiring the ability to properly name individual parts of clothing by pattern. Students will gain insight in basic literature arranged chronologically and by schools, trends and methods. Based on thus acquired knowledge they will be able to work as independent specialists in this field.
Syllabus
  • basic general literature, development in research, differences in methods and/or schools, terminology in clothing and folk clothing, factors influencing the evolution of folk clothing and forming of individual types (reflection of geographical area, social relations and employment, ethnical, historical and religious influences), technology of producing textile materials from home to industrial processing, types and methods of decoration
