Course objectives
Music is a natural part of the culture of every community and plays an important role in many of them. Musical expressions are above all part of our everyday life, whether they come from the category of mass, popular or so-called folk production. The sound and function of music production change and evolve depending on many factors (social, political, geographical...). An important factor is the question of social but also individual memory. The aim of this lecture series is to introduce students to music - its forms, its social function and the factors that have shaped its perception and functioning in society.

The student will gain knowledge of basic ethnomusicological, ethnoorganological and ethnological literature, get acquainted with various musical productions and get to know the context of action of many forms of musical production in a particular period of time.
