Course objectives
The aim of the lectures is to evaluate the significance and transformation of the phenomenon of basic military service (ZVS) in the Czech lands in the years 1968-2004, based on the analysis and interpretation of various sources, against the background of different political regimes, ie the so-called socialist (communist) and democratic. Furthermore, the results of the study of the differences between the state-proclaimed idea of ​​the meaning of ZVS and its practical impact on several generations of Czech men will be presented.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to characterize and describe a specific phenomenon, which was the basic military service in our country. Students will be able to discuss the process of discipline and indoctrination of conscripts in relation to the ruling power, based on an examination of the changing relationship between officiality and practice.
