Course objectives
In his lecture, Odin will look at both the general basis of semiopragmatics and its specific application on issues of amateur and documentary film, intermediality, constitution of cinematographic institution in the years of early cinema, the notion of the post-visual, etc. Dates: 7. 4. - 10. 4. 2003. Roger Odin is a major French film theoretician, head of 'Institut de recherche sur le cinéma et l'audiovisuel' and professor of communication studies at the University of Paris III. He has elaborated his own conception of semiopragmatic theory of film and the audiovisual (television, video, photography), he also researches institutional and pragmatic dimensions of amateur and documentary film, as well as the notion of fiction.
