Course objectives
The seminar follows the lecture FAVh058 Introduction to the festival studies. It will focus on practical exercises in the analysis and interpretation of big data related to film festivals. In the seminars, we will track the trajectories of selected films on the international film festival circuit, which will be visualized using digital visualization tools. We will interpret the results of the analysis in the context of the economic and social conditions of festival distribution and film circulation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will:
Be able to interpret the movement of films in the broader context of festival circuits
Gain a basic understanding of the international film festival network and the ways in which films move within it
Get basic skills in working with a selected visualisation tool
