Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the production of animated films in the 1990s and the 1990s of the 21st century. The student will 1) gain an understanding of the changes in the audiovisual industry, 2) acquire practical skills in analyzing collected data, and 3) present the results.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will:
- understand the changes in the functioning of the Czech audiovisual industry after 1989
- acquire knowledge about the transformation of the production background of short films
- understand the specifics of short film production
- be able to analyse the factors influencing the production and distribution history of short films
- become familiar with methodological tools suitable for analysing the distribution of animated films
- acquire the skills to present the results of assignments in a digital environment

  • Among the topics discussed at the seminar will be:
  • - transformation of the production environment after 1989
  • - (dis)continuity of filmmakers' careers - fields of application
  • - ways of financing animation production
  • - the role of television as a medium
  • - commissioned and advertising production
  • - modes of distribution (cinema, television, home video)
