Course objectives
The seminar continues on the subject of Theory and practice of translation. Students learn to translate literary texts easier to apply where the main principles and techniques of translation, which are met in Theory and Practice of Translation.
Syllabus
  • 1) Translation of short prose texts from French to Czech - application of basic translation processes (transposition, modulation), 2) analysis of translated texts 3) re-Translations from Czech into French

Teaching methods
Through common analysis of concrete translated texts the definition of translation methods is achieved. During their presentation students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowlidge and practical analysis of the translated text.
Assessment methods
Seminar paper in French (5 pages). Examination – written translation of a given text with a commentary. Attendance is mandatory for those enrolled in the course.
