Course objectives
The course presents basic information technology methods in the area of philology and computer text processing in linguistics and literature with regard to French language.
Syllabus
  • The course has two parts
  • 1) theoretical - computer terminology, selected passages from corpus linguistics 2) practical - a survey of available programs - searches in Google, Frantext, Czech National Corpus, CAT 3) Linguistic or literary project of the student's choice

Teaching methods
Lecture: exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text (corpuses), proceeding from diverse registers. Seminar: application of theoretical knowledge on authentic texts (corpuses). During their presentations students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowledge and practical analysis of a specific text.
Assessment methods
Credit – based on an independent approach and interpretation of the results.
