Course objectives
To test basic language skills and basic theoretical knowledge of French history, culture, literature, and linguistics.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- understand a short recording in French and summarize the main ideas and define key concepts
- identify and describe the main features of contemporary French society based on a text from the French press, summarizing the main ideas and arguments;
- identify and summarise the main features of the main periods of French history and literature;
- analyse a short press text from a linguistic point of view (morphosyntactic analysis);

Teacher's information
The state final exam has 4 parts: 1) listening comprehension 2) reading comprehension 3) written expression 4) oral production. All parts test A) knowledge and skills in French at B2 level (preparation in the Language Seminar I-IV courses), including Commentaire composé (or Dissertation), Essai argumenté, and Synthèse. B) orientation to the issues covered in all the compulsory courses: Introduction to the History and Culture of France I-II, French Literature I-IV, French Phonetics and Phonology, and French Morphology.
