Course objectives
The course deals with all aspects of the creative writing process from a comparative, theoretical, and creative perspective. The aim is to highlight the interactions of the literary text with its environments of production and reception (literary history and theory, society and culture), in order to nourish a learning process of creative and critical literary production. The course thus aims to consolidate and deepen literary notions, to introduce a comparative approach to texts and translation phenomena, and to strengthen written and oral communication skills in French through personal, critical and/or creative productions.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to: - produce a clear, correct and coherent text in French - identify and respond effectively to the objectives of written and oral texts in French. - identify the elements of literary analysis and use them for their own production - Understand and analyze literary texts in relation to their production and reception environment in a comparative approach. - evaluate literary translations.
Syllabus
  • Given the objectives of the course, each sequence is divided into three phases, spread over two sessions: - the study of texts from a comparative and theoretical perspective. The corpus of texts belongs to different linguistic areas from the 19th century to the present day. The texts originally in a foreign language will be accompanied by one or more versions in French, which will be the subject of a reflection on the possibilities and challenges of translation. - Creative Writing: written, creative, and personal productions by students based on textual analysis. - A pooling and debate on the students' productions, accompanied, if necessary, by language remediation. The topics to be covered will be decided with the students. For example, they may include: utopian or uchronic fiction, caricature, the rewriting of myths and legends, historical narration, making beauty out of ugly in poetry, the metamorphosis of landscape or objects, the mediality of literature (literature as a medium, film adaptations, etc.), etc.

Teaching methods
The organisation of the sequences involves the active participation of the students in both written and oral communication. The lessons will take the form of exchanges, class discussions and debates based on the study of texts. The written productions will be produced, as far as everyone is able, during the creative writing workshops in class.
Assessment methods
The validation of the examination is based on the assessments of: -a written production (student's choice) -an oral presentation
