Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarise students with basic types of problems occuring in the daily practice in translating French to Czech, and to show ways how to solve them.
Syllabus
  • Students will exercise their ability to use different translation methods by doing translation and proof-reading of various short texts.
  • The organisation of the subject matter will be based on the division of translation equivalence according to the levels of translation units (lexical-grammatical-textual).

Teaching methods
To acquaint students with the basic types of problems encountered by translators and translator of French face in everyday practice, and show ways to deal with them .
Assessment methods
Translation of a text. Condition for admission to the examination is continuous production of the specified translation. The student must also complete a course in the ELF (e-learning).
