Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students with a problem of „Western“ dimension of Polish position in post-1945 Europe. The main point is the matter of the development of Poland-EC/EU (and its members) political and economic relations and the social reflection of this phenomenon, thus in the Soviet Bloc era and primarily during the years after its destruction. Poland became the „leader“ state among the CEE countries „on the way to Europe“. Also Poland was (and still is) the state, which approximation with EC/EU was accompanied by wide discussions of Polish society, or by conflicts of several opinions about future Polish position in the „new Europe“. At the same time, the wider characters of „Eastern enlargement“ will be explained next to the Polish case.
