- Completed basic course on the history of music (HV801a+HV801b) and the first part of hymnology course (HV728a).
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide basic orientation in both theoretical and practical problems of hymnology and to create the qualification for analytical and critical work with hymnological sources.
- Learning outcomes
- The course HV728b will equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for independent heuristic and editorial work with an historical repertoire of sacred vocal music as well for its analytical and critical interpretation.
- Syllabus
- The subject of the course is made up by the following thematic spheres: 1) Codicology as the methodological basis for the work with the hymnological sources. 2)The theoretic and practic problems of the physical description of the hymnological sources. 3) The theoretic and practic problems of the contents description of the hymnological sources. 4) The cataloguing of the hymnological repertoire as theoretical and practical problem of the heuristic work. - Teaching methods
- Class (1,5 hours per weeek); wtihin the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
- Assessment methods
- The course is endet by a credential interview, success of which is based on: 1)Reliable knowledge of historical development and theoretical problems of hymnology given by the syllabus and lectures. 2)Reliable knowledge of basic literature on the subject.
