Course objectives
The course specialized as Conversations on contemporary Italian literature aims to deepen the conversation skills in Italian through the reading of contemporary Italian authors. It introduces students to contemporary Italian literary and publishing production with particular attention to the conversation carried out in class following the readings of various passages by authors such as G. Foletti, A. Tabucchi, A. Baricco, R. Saviano, E. Ferrante, T. Terzani, P. Rumiz, P. Cognetti, A. D'Avenia etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be practiced in conversation on various topics based on the books discussed in class, he will also be familiar with the selected works of some contemporary authors and will receive the basis for further analysis of the literary text.
Syllabus
  • Chapters chosen from texts produced by different authors will be read and discussed in class. Students will have opportunities to express their opinions, to improve their ability to speak in Italian and to enrich their vocabulary of the language.

Teaching methods
The course will be developed through seminar-type lessons that require the confrontation and active participation of the student. The materials - in pdf - will be provided by the lecturer. Students must read them at home before each lesson, except in specific cases.
Assessment methods
Given the practical aspect of the course and the necessary confrontation in class, non-attending students will not be admitted. Participation in at least 75% of the lessons (max three absences) and the writing of a short essay are required. A presentation, to be prepared in PowerPoint, relating to the chosen book / theme will also be mandatory. The final grade will be the average of the outcome of the written essay on the chosen topic (30%), of the presentation (35%) and participation in lessons (35%).
