Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able to:
Formulate opinions about significant media art works and influences, shaping media art field;
Interpret selected works of media art. Analyze works by media artists with respect to their place in a media art field;
Characterize creative poetics of significant personalities of media art;
Evaluate the contribution of key works from a history of art-technology relationship for development of media art.

  • Film – medium of the 20th century:
  • a) F. Léger: Mechanical ballet; b) D. Vertov: Man with a movie-camera; c) Experimental film of the 20s and 30s.
  • 3.) Fantastic pictures – videoclip (TV aesthetics)
  • 4.) Czech media artists on international scene:

1. Essay of 9000 characters on a subject related to AV materials presented in seminar. 2. Alternatively: Oral speech of about 20 minutes (limited availability, consult the tutor in advance)
