Course objectives
The course will be realized in the form of the four insights into the realm of multimedia. Selective lectures will be focused on the developement of the theoretical, technical a aesthetic conceptions reflecting the metamorphosis dynamical relations between music or sound art in general and other types of art in the context of a work of multimedia. Main objective of the course is understanding the span of the notion "multimedia" and its polyvalency.
Syllabus
  • 1. Multimedia – space of the art form synthesis. Definition approaches. 2. Rise of the aristic expression complexity as a consequence of the European rationality development - logos, order, chaos. A projection of the rational approaches into the process of artistic production. 3. Interaction between the sensoric modes - sound and picture - From the pictorial function of music to the sounding picture. 4. Synaesthesia - Too much ado about nothing or a relevant scientific area? Music for eyes - music visualization forms.

Assessment methods
The final essay should be handed in the extent of 12 600 - 18 000 characters. There are following free topics given: 1. Multimedia as a result of an increasing rationality in arts, 2. Synthetic forms of artistic expression, 3. Picture and sound - mutual relations and influences, 4. Transmedia bindings between various art types.
