Course objectives
The aim of the course is to understand the possibilities of working with information using tools that have been created thanks to the worldwide Internet network.
It focuses on concepts such as net neutrality, publishing platforms, information architecture and organizational metaphors of the web, information security and anonymity in cyberspace, the Internet of Things and automation, open-source intelligence in the Internet environment, web 2.0, 3.0 and other iterations of the web - providing a comprehensive view of the Internet phenomenon in modern society.
The Internet creates a huge space for collaboration and communication: thanks to enhanced web services, there are convenient tools for routine tasks. The course both reflects the theoretical topics and provides attempt to offer insight into tools that serve more specific purposes.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- to reflect contemporary issues and concepts related to the Internet phenomenon;
- identify and describe current trends in the Internet environment and their impact on the information society;
- describe the factors that influence the development of Internet services;
- use the tools of the Internet in their study and professional practice.

Teaching methods
Classes are held weekly in the form of lectures and discussions.
Assessment methods
Attendance in the range specified at the beginning of the semester. Ongoing assignments given during lectures. Final essay and its defense at a group colloquium.
