Course objectives
The aim is to allow students to deepen their competencies of the reference librarian. The prerequisite is the completion of the ISKB16 Reference and Information Service 1.
At the time of learning, the student is responsible for the operation of the assigned library desk, including the care of the library fund. He or she will get in direct contact with users and get acquainted with their information needs.
Students of distance form who are not able to take part in the provision of services have the opportunity to develop a seminar paper on the LIS field.
A specialist is available to all students to consult.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- evaluate the services of the Central Library and propose their improvement;
- conduct search of the defined subject;
- critically evaluate the information and its resources.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introductory joint lecture; themes: citation databases and predatory journals.
  • 2. Individual training by a professional.
  • 3. Managed practice in the range of 25 hours, solving user queries, fund management.
  • 4. Task processing (complex search based on current library needs, solved projects).
  • 5. Final evaluation of the practice, evaluation of the task.
