Course objectives
Part of the transformation that libraries are undergoing is, among other things, the establishment of makerspace, multimedia laboratories and open workshops. This e-learning course provides an overview of basic information relevant to the Czech environment, examples of good practice from Czech libraries, tips for those who are considering whether to establish an open workshop or are just starting to build it. It also contains an overview of resources on the topic. The course will be useful for those who have long been interested in the topic of open workshops, as well as for those who come into contact with the topic for the first time.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course:
- have an overview of what open workshops are and what they can look like in the library; - can find out if an open workshop is something he would like to have in his library;
- know where to look for other useful resources regarding open workshops in libraries;
- be able to think about an open workshop in the library in the long run;
- will be able to answer questions about the topic (eg the founder) and lead a discussion on the topic;
- will be able to think about an open workshop in his library in a social and community context;
- is able to "bring order" to the operation of its open workshop in the library and to harmonize the cooperation of all those involved in its operation.

Teaching methods
Teaching activities and methods: critical and reflective work with e-course text, primary and secondary literature; performing activation tasks and exercises and solving problematic issues. The course is designed as a non-tutored e-learning course.

Participation, continuous fulfillment of tasks and challenges in the course.
