Course objectives
A course for all librarians who want to work in a community. For community librarians just starting out, as well as for experienced ones looking for new ideas for their work. It will be useful for everyone who organizes various events and community projects.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of communities, community work and community libraries;
- identify and describe current domestic and foreign trends;
- reflect the factors that affect community work;
- apply community principles to practical problems (creation of events, offer of services, team cooperation in the library);
- design a community service for your library
Syllabus
  • The course has five main chapters. In the introductory part, we will look at what a community is and how we can see a community library. The next three chapters are practical - we will learn to map the community and look for its potential ("What is my community?"), Build it ("How to help my community to succeed?") And work on community projects - from idea, through financing after implementation.
Teaching methods
Teaching activities and methods: critical and reflective work with e-course text, primary and secondary literature; performing activation tasks and exercises and solving problematic issues. The course is designed as a non-tutored e-learning course.

Participation, continuous fulfillment of tasks and challenges in the course.
