Course objectives
The course starts with the introduction of hiragana and katakana, as well as approximately 80 of the most elementary Japanese character kanji will also be introduced during the semester. Regular class attendance is compulsory.
Learning outcomes
After a succcessful completion of the course student will be able to:
- actively write and read Japanese syllabary alphabets hiragana and katakana;
- read and understand basic Japanese sentences;
- write, read and understand the meaning of basic Japanese characters.

Teaching methods
Introduction to the Japanese writing system, kana and kanji writing drills focused on the correctness of writing.
Assessment methods
Final written exam. Assignments given throughout the semester are preliminary for the actual exam.
