Course objectives
Slovenian/Croatian/Serbian/Bulgarian language course focused on extending the vocabulary, conversation on various topics and exercising the ability to define characteristic words phrases and idioms.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able to describe new grammar phenomena acquired in this semester and use the knowledge in spoken and written interaction. By the means of acquiring new vocabulary and grammar they can create text or speak about related topics. Students are able to understand written text and interpret it. Croatian language instruction focused on broadening of vocabulary, conversation on various topics and exercising the ability to define characteristic words phrases and idioms. Each week students hand in an essay.

  • Slovenian:
  • Teme: daily conversations, travel, my home, my family, my hobbies, school, and the Slovenian school and educational system. Current topics from daily life; various conversational and written activities.
  • Croatian:
  • Analysis of topical articles from Croatian press, loan words, synonyms, antonyms, defining of terms, retelling a journalistic texts, written and oral expression.
  • Serbian:

Teaching methods
Seminar (two hours per week), essays, translations from relevant South Slavonic language to Czech, home preparation, in the seminar a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
Assessment methods
The course has a form of a class discussion. Conditions for passing the course are active participation in the seminar, finishing of all homework, successfully written midterm test.
