Cíle předmětu
This course is designed to be combined with JSFF_AP2 Academic and Presentation Skills. Students are strongly encouraged to register for both courses. This course is designed for students who need to revise or upgrade their grammar skills to ensure accuracy of communication in academic environments and contexts. There is a thorough and systematic review of grammatical structures and their use in authentic language situations. At the same time, the course is geared towards authentic academic and research situations, scenarios, and written texts in order to prepare students for typical academic tasks such as writing abstracts, summaries, proposals, and articles, preparing presentations, and describing trends in their fields as well as the results of their research. This course studies grammar from an ESL/EFL perspective.
Výstupy z učení
- Students will be able to use and communicate in grammatically correct English in academic contexts and environments - Students will be able to utilize and integrate specialized terminology into correct grammatical structures - Students will know how to compose abstracts, summaries, and short descriptions of their research, methods, trends, and developments in their fields of research in academic English
Výukové metody
All modules consist of grammatical structure presentation by the instructor, in-class and online exercises, and short written assignments related to science and research in which students will be able to practice the newly-acquired skills in a written, academic English form
