Course objectives
A survey of Minoan and Mycenaean art, of Bronze Age Troy and of the Cycladic cultures, with an introduction dealing with Greek Neolithic; supplemented by a survey of relations of the Aegean Bronze Age art and other monuments with civilizations of the Mediterranean, the Near East and Europe.

  • A survey of Aegean art and architecture, its relations to the Near Eastern and European cultures of the Bronze Age and its relation to later Greek art of the Early Iron Age.

Teaching methods
Lecture with projection of pictures, practical dating and ascription of monuments, aimed to understanding the development of Aegean art from its beginning to the end of the Bronze Age; discussions on specific subjects.
Assessment methods
test aimed at identification and dating of important monuments, and answering general questions and terminology from the Egean archaeology
