Course objectives
The course is an entry into the history of archeological excavations in areas of ancient cultures in Mediterraneum and on the territory of Roman provinces. Informs students about the most important archeological excavations of antic sites. It gives informations about methodology of field excavations in the classical and provincial Roman archaeology and prepares the students for the participation on field researches. High importance is attached to learn basics of archaeological documentation and use of specialised publications about results of field excavations.

  • History of archaeological field researches on the territory of ancient cultures.
  • Methodology of field research in the classical archaeology and in the archaeology of Roman provinces.
  • Practical and technical knowledges needed for participation on field researches.
