Prerequisites
KSCA652 Chinese for Mgr. program II
- This course is designed for first-year master's students at SCS MUNI. The department standard is that such students should have a minimum of HSK 4 or CEFR B1 level.
- The course is offered exclusively to the students of the Chinese Department of Masaryk University.
- Exceptions could be made if an Erasmus student has Chinese Studies as their major at their home university and if the student can present documented proof. Language proficiency certificates (HSK/TOCFL) are NOT accepted.

Course objectives
The students learn advanced skills in academic reading - in terms of grammar, style and vocabulary and Chinese academic conventions. They also discuss the readings in Chinese.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- understand and use the specifics of Chinese written academic style;
- discuss the reading in full Chinese.

Teaching methods
Weekly readings and discussion in Chinese.
Assessment methods
Up to two unexcused absences tolerated. A student who has three unexcused absences is not allowed to sit the final exam.
To ask for an excused absence, the student needs to officially approach the Study Department of the Faculty.
Final exam: reading + oral exam. The student will be given a short essay (2-3 pages, in Chinese) to read at home and come to the oral exam, ready to answer questions.
