- Course Structure for the Conversation Class
Each unit in this course consists of two sessions focused on a single theme. The topic may be selected by the teacher, discussed and decided together with students, or based on the content of the main course textbook.
Please note that the class is conducted via MS Teams. After being matched with a teacher, you will be added to a specially created MS Teams group (note: the group name may differ from the course name). All lessons will be conducted in MS Teams.
First Session: Open Discussion
At least three days before class, the teacher will upload 15 open-ended questions related to the selected topic to MS Teams. Please read the questions in advance and think about how you would respond.
During class, the teacher will choose several of these questions for discussion and aim to cover as many as possible, depending on the time available.
Each question will be thoroughly discussed (around 5 minutes per question). The teacher may also ask follow-up questions based on your answers.
Important: This class emphasizes oral fluency and spontaneous response, so you should not prepare fully written-out answers to read or memorize.
You may write an outline or list of keywords, but please avoid reading from a script.
Second Session: Review and Reinforcement
After the first session, your teacher will prepare a list of vocabulary, phrases, or grammar points that students had difficulty using during class. Additionally, they will create a new set of 15 open-ended questions related to the same theme (topics may be slightly revised or expanded).
These two documents will be uploaded to MS Teams on the same day as the first session. Please study them before the second session.
During the second session, please try to use the new vocabulary and sentence patterns provided by the teacher, so that you can reinforce and expand your language skills.
Post-Class Feedback
After the second session, the teacher will upload final feedback to MS Teams, including comments on your class performance and suggestions on vocabulary, expressions, or grammar you still need to work on. - Assessment methods
