Course objectives
The students will present in Chinese texts and videos they will have read or watched before the class. A discussion based on the presentation will follow.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course the students should be able to present and discuss in Chinese cultural, social, political and economic subjects.
Syllabus
  • Part of the texts and videos will be provided by the teacher, and part of them will be selected by the students. The topics will include world and Chinese/Taiwanese cultural, social, political, economic news, media articles and videos, essays and films.
Teaching methods
The students will prepare their individual homework before each class: read a text or watch a video in Chinese and prepare a ppt presentation for talking in class. Each presentation will be discussed by the other students and the teacher. The teacher will provide a vocabulary list for a small revision test during the next class.
Assessment methods
Presentations and tests in class will be the main part of the assessment (70%). The final test (30%) will include the vocabulary on the topics covered during the semester.
